Prong Set

Prong Setting

A Prong setting usually uses 3-6 claws to hold the center stone of an engagement ring. The Prong engagement ring setting has the advantage of allowing maximum light to enter into the body of the stone creating fabulous sparkle. The disadvantage of a Prong setting is that it exposes the girdle or perimeter of the diamond to daily wear and tear. The prong setting can also snag clothing. However, if you have a diamond of exceptional quality there is no better way to display it.
